This little thing is the funniest toy I've seen in YEARS! I'd say BUY IT NOW, no buy two! I'm up to three units!Many folks on Amazon have complained about the unit and their complaints are well taken. I tried to note them in the "cons" section below.Like any good joke, there's a limit to how long it's funny. At that point, you can shut him down.With all it's "faults", I'd buy it again. It's just a simple toy that WORKS and is genuinely FUNNY. Lighten up and have some fun.Pros:The unit faithfully "hears" and repeats speech reliably, recanting timing, inflections and accents. He speaks in a higher pitch, as a hamster would.An On/Off switch allows for quiet time and battery savings.The preset volume is adequate, but not overly loud.The unit jiggles, apparently in-time to his speech.Cons:No volume control. No auto shutoff.Doesn't work well in crowded rooms. Works best with quiet background and one person speaking.Will repeat noises as well as voice. E.g. It will accurately repeat drumming your knuckles on the counter top.No cuss word filter.3 AAA batteries NOT included.Would NOT recommend for a child play toy. There are moving parts within which may cause injury or sustain breakage with undue handling. The unit is best left(and intended to be) on the counter and not handled.Batteries die in less than a week! We're grandparents and left the unit on the counter for about a week, mostly shut OFF and the batteries are already dead. ?If your thinking that "one is great, maybe two is better . . . " forget it! They definitely do not play nicely together. They wind up recording and reproducing a garbled mess.

Bought it for 18 months todler to help him learning to talkHe likes it very much. He likes the repetition of the words more than when it plays music

This is the cutest toy. I actually got this talking hamster for my dog about a month ago. I saw a video on facebook that a member got for his dog. It has the cutest voice and when my dog barks it backs back. It keeps her entertained. I catch my husband talking to it too.

it’s cute. my kids like it. But it is currently at the toy hospital(my shelf) due to fluff falling out and the material separated from the battery pack .

Absolutely love it, bought it for a granddaughter’s third birthday. My husband and I were laughing listening to it.

I've never had a toy that repeats what I say without pushing any buttons! You just turn it on, and as you talk it will make hamster sounds and also repeat clips in your tone and inflection of what you said but with a hamster voice. This will be a stocking stuffer and I'm sure it will hold my kids interest.

The speaker is terrible and you cant even understand what it says

It's practically impossible to understand what the toy says. Waste of money.

Not what I was hoping for I thought they would be more plush

Bought this for my cat, hoping he would take to it.He smelled it and played with it for about 3 minutes before moving onto another inanimate plush toy.The microphone picked up on human voices, but not my cats meows.Product arrived on time, well packaged and is a good size.
