Review Is Will Smith an important rapper? The kind that deserves the awards, the honors, the accolades that the music industry foists upon him? Well, no. The words corny and safe might be applicable when describing the artist formerly known as the Fresh Prince. But dig this: corny and safe as he may be, why can't you stop singing "Getting Jiggy wit It" or why does your child love "Just the Two of Us," Smith's shameless ode to dads and their kids? Probably because Smith is nothing if not sincere. Yes, the tracks are obvious and leaden, and, no, Method Man won't have any sleepless nights when Smith lets loose with a rhyme. But give him this: Smith comes from the culture, even if he long ago left the streets. --Amy Linden --.com

Big Willie Style was aimed to please the masses in the 1997-1998 music season.
Big Willie Style was Will Smith's first solo album ever. And this album marked another attempt by Will, to distance himself from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and to a certain extent Jazzy Jeff.Mind you, Will and Jazz were still friends when this album went into production (and they still are to this day), but Will wanted to go out on his own in the entertainment biz for real in 1996.Meanwhile, to this day, most people will pay attention to the four hits songs on this album and the fact that Big Willie Style was Will's first solo album. But besides all that, this album was very, very well produced by beat masters Poke & Tone. You don't understand this album at all if you don't give credit to Poke & Tone. This album wasn't just about Will Smith.Getting back to the subject of Jazz, he only contributed beat production on one song on this album--------the criminally underrated track 7 "Don't Say Nothin"--------but that track was arguably the best song on this album. On track 7, Will went in on his critics who had been dogging him since about 1987. Those critics included music fans, music critics, and gangster rappers who had no use for Will's type of rap music: no cussing, using derogatory names for females, or talking about gunplay.Big Willie Style lived up to its name, because songs like "Miami", "Men In Black", "Getting Jiggy wit It", and "Just The Two of Us", were meant to blow up this album. You couldn't go nowhere back in the 1997-1998 music season and not hear those four songs bumping in somebody's car stereo, at somebody's house, in retail stores' PA systems, on TV, or elsewhere. My favorite songs on this album were (in order):1.) Track 3: "Getting Jiggy wit It"2.) Track 16: "Men In Black"3.) Track 9: "Yes, Yes Y'all"4.) Track 8: "Miami"5.) Track 7: "Don't Say Nothin"In conclusion, this album gave you the hit songs, some deep and introspective songs, and three super funny skits by Jamie Foxx. I got my money's worth and so will you when you purchase this album.

a true classic!!!
I have always been a fan of Will Smith ever since The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. So far, Will Smith is the only rapper that I've heard that can rap without cursing. This is my favorite album by Will. This album has all the hits: "Miami", "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It", "Just the Two of Us" and my all-time favorite, "Men in Black". Some editions have "Just Cruisin'" as a bonus track, which is also a hit in my book. It's just too bad this version does not have it. I really like the Keith B-Real interludes with Jamie Foxx. They are so hilarious. Overall, this is a classic album. I recommend this album to any Will Smith fans and I hope they enjoy as much as I do.

Will is the most underrated rapper of all times!
This is one of the most underrated rappers ever and this CD is one of the best rap CDs of all time. Will Smith out did himself with this project. It’s smooth and banging from start to finish!

It's Will being Will
I see no need for this to be lengthy, so here we go:1. This is Mr. Smith's style,it's more of a mix between pop and rap.2. This is before he tried to do that mainstream rap.....need I remind anyone of "switch",or his newest album?3. I had this on cassette when I was younger but it melted one day, so I bought it again on cd. I personally love this cd, I like the songs, but it also brings back nostalgia.

What can I say except wow! I bought this album when it first came out in 1997 and at the time I only bought it for the last song Men In Black but I listened to all of them and they are all very good. The Keith B Real interludes are funny. Will Smith has been a favorite of mine for years and I will always love this album!

A good start, it only gets better from here
What can i say thats wrong with this album, nothing. This is Big Willie Style, Will Smiths first solo CD after being with DJ Jazzy Jeff most of his early career.Includes the hits "Men in Black", "Just Cruisin" and "Gettin Jiggy Wit It". All of which are excellent songs and show what Will Smith vocally is capable of doing alone. A great solo album, and one which is worth listening to.

Borrowers favourite
A good benchmark for any album is how many times you have had to buy it again because other people borrow it and "forget" to return it.This is the 3rd copy of this ive bought so make of that what you will.Total classic tho for cruising in the summer in the car.
