Seemed to be working good
Bought this use this with an Avermedia C027 capture card. It has an analog (composite/component/s-video) and digital HDMI inputs. Using their AverMedia software this device seemed to work great, picture was exactly what I wanted. But couldn't get it to work with OBS because we want to use the HDMI input (for a camera) too but the component input is tied to the same input as the HDMI. So had to go with s-video on other input.Thought about returning it but kept it just in case it might come in useful for something else. It did seem to work fine as far as I could tell for that brief amount of time I was experimenting with it.Update: I went to try it out again at church and it wouldn't work. The LED came on, but the picture would randomly flicker on and off, mostly off. I checked the HDMI input and it was fine, so figured this went bad. I bought it home and hooked it up to my TV using my Chromecast and it worked fine. After pondering what was wrong, determined the difference was I was powering from the computer USB ports at church, but at home I was using a USB power supply. I have a USB tester and checked it, it's pulling almost 500mA. So you probably want to use a separate power supply with this (it doesn't come with one).

Worked decently, while it worked
On paper, this was exactly what I needed: an HDMI to YPbPr DAC without any scaling or buffering to be used in conjunction with a Retrotink 2x in pass-thru mode. It worked okay for awhile, although it was never very tolerant of resolution changes (the Pb and Pr components would become swapped when transitioning from 240p to 480i). Today it stopped working at all; the power LED still lights up, but no image is produced. Fantastic that it lasted just long enough to be outside the RMA window. At least it was an inexpensive mistake.

Does not work with HR Retrovision cables.
Don't know why, tried plugging the HD Retrovision male to male component cables to this. Doesn't work with both my switch and ps3. Tested on two older different CRTs I own.Edit: Product does indeed work. Set signal manually to 480p, otherwise the signal might not be read. Changing to 5 stars.

Works but sd picture.
Well its not a bad product per say, but it looks like and sd connection from a roku 4k even though its outputing 1080p. So all in all is that, yes it works but sd? %÷×$. Not sure what s my next step.

must match TV capability to input device or double image
Bought it so I could connect Roku Express HD to older HD TV. Roku display auto detect said both 720p and 1080p would work, but had to set at 720p to get proper display. 1080p mode produces side by side images. I think the unit prevents Roku from actually checking the TV display capability. Once properly set-up it works perfectly.

Perfect Alternative
Ease of of use.I have an old TV with one HDMI port that was damaged in a power surge. This device enabled me to still receive HD signal via use of the RGB component ports and not have my TV become a dust collecting paper weight.

Depends on Equipment and settings.
Works perfectly. After almost giving up on it, I found a answer group about adjusting the settings on Roku. Switched the settings from auto to 720p,( using a working television) hooked it back up and it worked just fine. Clear picture as if it was running with just hdmi cable. Satisfied.

Did not work for me.
This product did not work at all for me. I was trying to use it in my motorhome to connect a Roku or Apple TV box to my television. Neither device would produce a picture on my TV. I also didn’t like the fact that you had to provide your own power source. The box comes with a usb cable but you have to provide your own power cube. I returned the product for a refund.
